I have checked with a few folks and they also have experienced and continue to experience these…

… Sometimes it is a piece of music that keeps repeating itself in the head – such as a 7^th Symphony of Beethoven or a Toccata (in C minor) of Bach or a Bhimsen Joshi rendition of Ahir Bhairav or a MS Subbulakshmi’s ‘kurai onrum illai, Govinda’ – I have no wants, Govinda.

Sometimes there are these haunting images – such as the mind boggling scenes from a Andrei Tarkovsky or a Kurosawa Akira film, that deliciously  torment you…

Sometimes it is plain text that keeps rattling you, forever popping up from the deep recesses of the synapses – in my case, for the past one week or so it has been the turn of Bhaanushingho’s where the mind is without fear.

Reason: A week back was his death anniversary. August 7, 1941 was when our Rabindranath Tagore – ttaahkur, I mean – moved on… And hence this text has been looping in my head…

Today is the birthday anniversary of Sri Aurobindo. So, a few passages from Savitri are in order today.

And yes, today is our Independence Day Anniversary too! :-)

May we continue to enjoy many a millennium of significant independence and vibrant democracy… (of course, with bhayashunyo)

PostScript: Young Sridhar sent a message asking whether I heard/viewed Srimaan Narendra Modi’s inspiring speech today – he meant the Independence day address. I said no, and said I hope I’d get to watch that talk on youtube or somesuch thing.

Yes. What we need for this currently effete  nation of ours is an inspiring, no-nonsense, decisively working  leadership – taking a cool, logically assessed longterm perspective of things. Let us hope, in the next 4-10 years’ timeframe, he indeed delivers.
