some (dated?) thoughts on some good schools (for high & higher ed) in bharat

Not infrequently, I get asked: ‘could you list-out some good colleges/univs in India for my kids, nephews, nieces, neighbor-kids++’ by anxious parents & neighbors – as if I know everything and maintain an uptodate repository of informed-knowledge about all of them – and if I feel like, sometimes I do respond.
The following was one such case, and here it is – FWIW.
YMMV.
(NOTE: Folks get annoyed when they notice that there is no Tamilnadu specific school in the list. But I know what I am talking about. Yes. There is NOT a single good school for any half-reasonable education (leave alone being ‘good’) in Tamilnadu, that is setup by ‘Tamils’ or TN Govt.
In Tamilnadu – we have Universities and Colleges that are merely cardboard cutouts, at best. Tragic, but true. But then, these do not include the Indian Govt operated institutes – like NIT, IIT etc)
